Safety Talk: Employee Safety Orientations
By: Dan Stockwell (BWC Publication)
No business organization can expect good safety performance unless its top management demonstrates that safety is a key organizational value. A leader must communicate the need for safety to all employees. Accountability is one of the key factors to commitment. Every level of your organization needs to be accountable for its safety responsibilities. Make safety orientations for new and transferred employees a part of your organization’s basic safety processes.

Safety Council Rebate Program
The Ohio BWC announced that the Safety Council Rebate Program will continue and will now allow group-rated employers to be eligible for the 2% Performance Bonus. Read the full press release.
10-Step Business Plan for Safety: With BWC's 10-Step Business Plan for Safety employers can focus on implementing a more effective safety plan one step at a time as opposed to getting lost in the "where to start" phase of the big picture. While some of the BWC programs require employers to complete the 10-Step Business Plan for Safety, it can also be a good resource for companies looking to implement a new safety program or simply improve an old one. Please watch our monthly newsletters/website each month, as we will be highlighting each step. If you are anxious to get started or simply can't wait for the next step to be released you can visit Hunter Consulting Company's website at www.hunterconsulting.com for the full plan outline.

Unfortunately, behavior is one of the hardest things to change, especially if employees have been allowed to develop bad habits. These habits usually go unnoticed or unchanged until someone has had an accident. Once this has happened we often try to determine blame, instead of finding the root cause. Most of the time the causes are easy to see, if we only open our eyes and start observing why our employees do what they do.

A Message from Hunter Consulting:
Do you understand Ohio Workers’ Compensation? With all the changes in recent years we thought it would be beneficial to make available, to Chamber members, an informative booklet that covers: important dates, definitions on worker comp terminology, BWC alternative programs and their description, samples of most common BWC forms with explanation of how and why they are used. Please call Tammy at 513-231-4023 ext. 114.
